Computer: IMPOSSIBLE
A couple of days ago, I posted a note on Twitter and Facebook that left no doubt that I was in Compu-hell. There’s good reason for that.
I had been editing a music video for two and a half days, using footage that was never meant for the task, and was to the point that I was ready to do the final Final FINAL rendering. I mean, all I had to do was this one last step, and I’d be done. I could look back in triumph upon completing the project, having learned so much during the process.
But, Noooooooooooooooooooo!
When it came down to the last detail, my computer didn’t hiccup. It didn’t burp. Instead, like a mule on a hot day in the middle of the Texas Hill Country where my family has lived for more than seven generations, it just stopped working and refused to budge.
As I said in my tweeted lament: Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
Or something really close to that.
I was wroth with fury. I was consternated to the Nth degree. I wanted to cry like a baby, plead like a child begging for a cookie, grovel like a pauper… anyhoo… It was not a pretty site. As you can see, it’s difficult to put my predicament, much less the emotions it encouraged, into words. So, in a fit of self-therapy, I did what any respectable bass player/cook would do…
I did a search on funny cat pictures.
What? Oh, yeah, like you’ve never done that. What. Ever.
My concept is to convey how I felt at various times as I worked through the problem to ultimate success of completing the rendering process, through cats. Or to put a finer point on it, the humor, irony, and downright hilarity of cats at their best. I’m pretty sure that some of you will understand.
So, first, there’s the “What Happened?” phase:
Then, the “No Problem. I Can Fix It.” phase…
But, wait. It did it again:
I carefully study the problem:
To no avail:
I try to brute force my way past it:
Still no good. I’m getting angry:
Three hours later, I’m still totally confabulamolated. Or something:
So I beat on it some more:
It’s not working:
I am at the computer’s mercy:
I’m so out of sorts, this isn’t even a cat picture:
The voices are telling me to burn the computer:
And I’m ready to kill myself:
I don my superhero helmet:
And call for serious back-up:
Then I get angry again:
And get all uppity about myself:
I focus in on the problem:
I will NOT let you beat me, Mr. Computer!
Finally, success! Yay me! High Five!!
There is much rejoicing and celebrating:
And I take a well-deserved respite:
So… there you have it. My ordeal in cat pictures. It may not be the most serious way to deal with the issue. But it sure was therapeutic.
And fun!
God bless,
Lane
