Dig the Hole
Thirteen tracks of pain, joy, loss, renewal
and redemption – guaranteed to make you
Blue to the Bone!
This is going to hurt some, but it’ll be worth it, I promise you. You’re going to experience not just our pain; you’re going to feel your own pain deeper than ever before. But feeling it, really feeling it, and then letting it go, will give you a sense of renewal like no other. And that, my friend, is the purpose behind the Blues. It’s what makes the Blues different than everything else. And when you hear this band play, you’re going to hear Blues the way it was meant to be felt!” ~~ Lane Baldwin
Lane, you got yourself one killer band here, and it’s perfectly named. This is Deeper Blues!
Johnny B. Gayden, legendary bassist, formerly with Albert Collins
Lane taught me a lifetime of Blues in the year I worked with him. I can’t think of a better way to start my professional career.
Aaron Bouslog (drummer on Dig the Hole, now with Matthew Curry)
Lane is the best bass player I’ve ever worked with. He’s got a truly deep groove. Then, he’s singing his heart out, floating over top of it. And the intensity of his passion is almost overwhelming. It’s the deepest Blues I’ve ever heard. Or played.
Gary Jones – guitarist on Dig the Hole
Great stuff . . . gets better with each listen.
Helsinki Blues Cafe
Take everything you love about the Blues and mix it all together. Then add things a bass never did. That’s Deeper Blues.
Sean O’Bryan Smith, Groove Therapy Records
For Lane Baldwin, Deeper Blues was the culmination of almost thirty years of playing, studying, and living, the Blues. Lane spent decades learning from – and often performing with – Blues greats, such as Johnny B. Gayden (Albert Collins, Alligator Records, et al), Pinetop Perkins, The Nighthawks, Paul Bushbacher (L’il Ed & the Imperials), Tom Principato, Jimmy Thackery, Johnny Copeland, Mason Ruffner, and many others. In 2008, having amassed an extensive catalog of songs, Lane stepped out front to lead what many called “the best Blues in decades.”
Originally released in 2008, Dig the Hole was re-released on Raven Records at the end of 2014 with new cover graphics. All tracks are from the original masters.
Lane recently revived his Deeper Blues trio as a side-project, with which he performs locally when not on tour.
