The View From Here Release Date Set

Blues-infused Americana from an “American Master

The View From Here by Lane BaldwinFinally! After two and a half years in the making and preparation, The View From Here is set to release on Lane Baldwin’s Birthday, August 15th. Six years after the release of his internationally-acclaimed Dig the Hole, Lane Baldwin is set to release his most ambitious effort – a compilation of Lane’s most poignantly emotional stories. Produced by long-term ally and close friend Polo Jones, the 12-song disc is a giant step forward for the veteran performer. It’s already being called “a masterpiece from a master storyteller,” and “a truly unique offering.”

From the opening track Lay Me Down, a new take on old-school blues, to the last, a loving cover of Willie Dixon’s Spoonful, played on a home made hockey stick bass, Lane takes spell-bound listeners on a spell-bound journey through the Blues, Rock, and more, showcasing his stories like never before.

“Polo is a Godsend,” Lane says enthusiastically. “He’s so in tune with what I do, it’s like working with a better, smarter version of myself. Together, we brought things out of me I didn’t even know I had!”

The View From Here features a much fuller sound than Lane’s previous offerings, including keyboards, percussion and horns. In addition to playing his well-known Spector 6-string bass, Lane plays acoustic and electric guitars on the CD, and even provides a keyboard track on one song. Among the many notable musicians who contributed to the project are:

Lane Baldwin with Spector NS-6Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney) ~ drums on Freedom Train

Bryant Mills (John Lee Hooker) ~ all other drum tracks

Nate Ginsberg (Larry Graham, Herbie Hancock) ~ organ, piano, and “music box”

Danny B (Sistah Monica) ~ organ and piano

Terry Hiatt (Lara Price, et al) ~ various guitars on most tracks

David Adams (solo artist, session ace) ~ background vocals and guitar

Rik Feliciano and the Mambo Tropical Horns ~ horn arrangements and performances

The Abbott Brothers (highly-acclaimed, second-generation Bluegrass trio) ~ featured on the “sing along” track

Tami Brown (noted Bay Area vocalist) ~ background vocals on Blow Twister Blow

and many others.

The View From Here is already generating a buzz around the world, with fans and media outlets in Europe, Australia and the US calling it “Americana at its finest.” The CD will be available for digital download on all iTunes outlets and CD Baby. Touring in support of the CD will begin in late 2014 and continue throughout 2015.

“…seriously deep stuff!”  ~ Bryant Mills (John Lee Hooker)

Take everything you love about Blues, Rock and Americana, and mix it all together. Then add things a bass never did, more emotion than you’ve ever experienced. That’s Lane Baldwin. ~ Sean O’Bryan Smith – Groove Therapy Records
