Lane’s Custom Spector Bass

A few days ago, as I was getting ready to tape a series of lesson videos, I realized that I had yet to do a video about The Voice, my Spector NS-6XL/P Custom bass guitar. Yes, I’ve done one for Eddie, my Spector Coda-4, and I’ve done one on my touring rig. But the bass that’s been with me for just a few weeks shy of six years didn’t have a video yet. I have now corrected that lapse. Here’s an overview of the best bass I’ve ever owned.

[..YouTube..] I’ve seen your bass before online (and if I’m not mistaken in the pages of “Bass Player”) and have always been a fan! I’ve asked PJ about doing a custom piezo black bridge and he told me it wasn’t possible and was only available in the saddles of their Brass bridges – how did you pull that Brass Piezo Saddle/Black Bridge special item off? (it’s not just that I prefer black hardware, but also the high-end from the Aluminum bass plate on the black bridge)

    … but absolutely KILLER bass!

[..YouTube..] @LaneonBass Ah, something I didn’t notice while watching the video (over in “The Spector Club” at TalkBass.com there are a number of Players who have done the “Saddle Swap” simply for visual reasons only and have turned very nice). Unfortunately I believe the dimensions of my 4 Euro Bolt-On bridges are *slightly* different that the USA bridge so I’m not sure if USA piezo-equipped saddles would fit in my black Euro bridge , but it’s worth giving PJ a call – thanks!

[..YouTube..] @LaneonBass Ah, something I didn’t notice while watching the video (over in “The Spector Club” at TalkBass.com there are a number of Players who have done the “Saddle Swap” simply for visual reasons only and have turned very nice). Unfortunately I believe the dimensions of my Euro Bolt-On bridges are *slightly* different that the USA bridge so I’m not sure if USA piezo-equipped saddles would fit in my black Euro bridges, but it’s worth giving PJ a call – thanks!

[..YouTube..] @LaneonBass Also, I’d KILL for LEDs straight from Spector as opposed to going to SIMs and voiding warrantee (again, maybe something PJ could workaround) as well as the body shape for “He Who Shall Not Be Named” (spoken to PJ, no CNC info exists) but if I could work out getting the piezo saddles if workable on my Nordstrand Big Single/Aguilar OBP-3 setup in my Euro Bolt-Ons, which as a Jazz Bass Guy I find is the perfect combo of Spector @ Jazz Bass I’d be a very happy Spectorist!

[..YouTube..] @scarred2112 – This system is actually powered by a single LED that is nested in the body. The lights you see on top of the neck are the ends of fiber optic cables. It’s a really sweet set-up, and I wish they still offered it. Unfortunately, the company that did this is no longer in business.
