- March Newsletter posted
I
just realized that for the last two newsletters I didn't post here. I apologize
for the lapse. It seems that I still have more organizing to do in order to keep
all the plates spinning, if you take my meaning. I'm actually in the process of
converting this site and others to a WordPress set-up. This should make it much
easier to maintian and update the many sites for which I am responsible. For now,
however, I'm still doing it the old-fashioned way.

- Lane joins Spears Center Council of Equals
Local
businessman Lane Baldwin is honored to announce that he is the newest member of
the Spears Center for Servant-Leadership's Council of Equals. Building on a nine-year
relationship with founder Larry Spears, this new position on the center's board
will find Baldwin working more closely than ever with the world's foremost authority
on servant-leadership and its implementation.
"Larry
Spears has been at the forefront of the servant-leadership movement since accepting
the torch passed by Robert Greenleaf himself," Baldwin said after receiving
the news. "I've long considered Larry one of my most important mentors, and
am thrilled to accept this exciting challenge."
Baldwin
is a rising voice in the world of servant-leadership, and is recognized as an
expert in service-based sales. In 2011, his essay, Learning Servant-Leadership
from Native America - Again, will be published in The Spirit of Servant-Leadership
(Paulist Press, Ferch and Spears, editors). During histwenty-eight year career,
Baldwin has worked with businesses of all sizes, from mom-and-pop shops to Fortune
1000 companies, including men's clothing giant, Men's Wearhouse.
Lane
is the VP, Sales and Relationships for David Nordschow Amplification, the new
company recently launched by music industry icon David Nordschow. He is also VP,
Sales and Outreach for the dynamic new educational company, The Learning Dock.
In addition, he serves as Ambassador-at-Large for the prestigious Rick Turner
Guitar Company.
In
addition to maintaining a successful consulting practice (www.lanebaldwin.com),
Lane is the founder of Danville Foodstock (www.danvillefoodstock.com), serving
food - and hope - to those in need. His work with the organization serves
as an example of servant-leadership in the community. Capping a twenty-five year
music career, Lane also uses his servant-led band Deeper Blues (www.deeperblues.com)
to promote community servant-leadership. As a writer, poet and speaker, Lane offers
a message of living in harmony and finding fulfillment in the service of others.
As a person, he's just trying to be the best human being he can be.

- Lane Featured in Spears Center Newsletter
We're
proud to announce that Lane is featured in this month's issue of the Spears
Center for Servant-Leadership newsletter! Lane and Larry have been friends
for several years, so when Lane began to refocus on consulting, he naturally called
to discuss the opportunity with Larry. (Lane also sent him a Deeper Blues CD.)
What
really excited Larry was the way Lane is using servant-leadership in his music
career and with his charity endeavors, bringing the servant-leader message to
new audiences. The time was right, Larry decided, to feature Lane in his newsletter.
The first half of the feature is an overview of Lane's work; the second half is
the opening to Lane's essay Learning Servant-Leadership from Native America
- Again. This is the essay that will be included in Larry's upcoming book
The Spirit of Servant Leadership, due this year. Also included is a link
to the entire essay.
A
note from Lane:
