It seems that I still have more organizing to do in order to keep all the plates spinning, if you take my meaning. Building on a nine-year relationship with founder Larry Spears, this new position on the center's board will find Baldwin working more closely than ever with the world's foremost authority on servant-leadership and its implementation.

"Larry Spears has been at the forefront of the servant-leadership movement since accepting the torch passed by Robert Greenleaf himself," Baldwin said after receiving the news. "I've long considered Larry one of my most important mentors, and am thrilled to accept this exciting challenge."

Baldwin is a rising voice in the world of servant-leadership, and is recognized as an expert in service-based sales. In 2011, his essay, Learning Servant-Leadership from Native America - Again, will be published in The Spirit of Servant-Leadership (Paulist Press, Ferch and Spears, editors). During histwenty-eight year career, Baldwin has worked with businesses of all sizes, from mom-and-pop shops to Fortune 1000 companies, including men's clothing giant, Men's Wearhouse.

Lane is the VP, Sales and Relationships for David Nordschow Amplification, the new company recently launched by music industry icon David Nordschow. 03.05.2009 - Lane Featured in Spears Center Newsletter

We're proud to announce that Lane is featured in this month's issue of the Spears Center for Servant-Leadership newsletter! Lane and Larry have been friends for several years, so when Lane began to refocus on consulting, he naturally called to discuss the opportunity with Larry. (Lane also sent him a Deeper Blues CD.)

What really excited Larry was the way Lane is using servant-leadership in his music career and with his charity endeavors, bringing the servant-leader message to new audiences. The time was right, Larry decided, to feature Lane in his newsletter. The first half of the feature is an overview of Lane's work; the second half is the opening to Lane's essay Learning Servant-Leadership from Native America - Again. This is the essay that will be included in Larry's upcoming book The Spirit of Servant Leadership, due this year. Also included is a link to the entire essay.

A note from Lane:

I can't tell you how honored I am to be featured by the Spears Center. Many thanks to Larry Spears for his continued support and encouragement. Larry is one of the world's foremost authorities on, and champions of, servant-leadership. Simply put, there is no one better to carry the servant-leadership banner.

The guidance and encouragement Larry has offered over the years has, and continues to be, deeply appreciated. While he may not know it, his advice has been crucial to my growth, not only as a servant-ldear, but also as a person.

I highly recommend Larry and the Spears Center to anyone wishing to learn more about the servant-leadership community. And, again, I'm honored to be featured in his newsletter.

02.20.09 - New Look - New Focus

Today we uploaded the new design for Lane Baldwin Servant-Leadership Solutions. We revamped the site as a reminder of sorts about our new focus. Still, however, the site places ease of navigation above a lot of flashy graphics that only slow down your experience.

More important than the web site's new look is Lane's new focus. It's a classic "everything old is new again" scenario, in that Lane is again concentrating on small businesses - like yours, for instance. Lane explains it this way:

I began my consulting career working with other bands and solo artists. I soon took on small business clients. helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of success. It wasn't until the mid-90s that I began to work with larger corporations. And, while I have enjoyed the corporate work I've done, in today's economy, numerous small businesses are suffering. In light of the current economy, I realized that my small business services were needed more than ever before. So I'm back where I started, helping individuals realize - or maintain - their dreams. It's just one way I can find true fulfillment through my service to others.

01.01.09 - Foodstock Charities to Offer Monthly Free Dinners

Foodstock Charities, a project of the Life with Spirit Foundation, will offer a monthly free dinner. Hosted at the Tilton Lions Club house, the dinners are free to all, but the focus is on feeding the families and individuals who need our help the most. Working with his business partner Bob Stevens, and his wife, Glenda Ford-Baldwin, Lane views the project as their way to serve the neediest in their community.

"In today's economy, there are more people every day who need help," Lane says. "We found a way we cold make an impact, and raise awareness of the problem. It's one way we can give back to the community that supports us."
