Lane Baldwin’s Gear

Lane is proud to endorse the following companies:

Lane on Bass

Lane on his Spector NS-6P Custom, with DR Strings Black Beauties & LM Products strap, tuned with a Peterson tuner. Now we’re talking TONE!

Spector Basses – Lane’s main bass for fifteen years has been the Voice of Thunder, an NS-6P Custom, built by Stuart Spector and his crew of outstanding craftsmen. This truly one-of-a-kind instrument was built to Lane’s specifications, including  the first translucent black finish ever done by Spector, black hardware (another first), piezoelectronic bridge pickup, and fiber option neck dots. Of the ten Spector basses ever built with the fiber optic system, Lane’s is the only six-string.

New additions to the Spector family include 4- and 5-string Coda basses. The 5 is strung E-C, and will soon get a de-tuner for the E string.

Lane readily admits he was extremely lucky to meet and make friends with PJ Rubal, one of Stuart’s most ardent champions. PJ is now national sales manager and Artist Relations rep for the company, and continues to do an excellent job of taking care of the needs of their large family of endorsers.

DR Strings – Lane has been using DR Strings exclusively for fourteen years. He appreciates the outstanding service he receives from Rosa and Tony, and the rest of the DR crew almost as much as he appreciates the consistency of tone and quality control.

Lane uses Black Beauties on everything except his acoustic-electric bass guitar (uses Rare series) and his Renaissance RS-6 Deuce, which uses Zebras.

Peterson Tuners – Lane’s been using Peterson tuners exclusively on stage and in the studio for more than five years. Tuning is not an option, and neither is being close. That’s why he relies on the industry’s top tuners to get the job done.

A Stomp Classic tuner sits on Lane’s pedal board, and he also has the headstock clip-on model for quick checks on stage.

LM Products – Lane’s friend Rev Jones introduced Lane to LM products four years ago. Ever since, Lane’s only straps are made by this family-owned company. Karen and Pat craft every strap by hand, and have done several in custom color combinations for Lane.

Lane has been so impressed with the company that he has not only recommended their straps to everyone who will listen, he’s even worked to bring several friends to the company’s endorsing artist roster, including Johnny B. Gayden, Roy Vogt and Sean O’Bryan Smith.

Shubb Capos – Don’t forget that Lane also plays guitar. And when he needs to capo up, there’s only one choice for him, and that’s Shubb. Lane uses a variety of Shubb capos, all sized for baritone guitar. You never know; he may want to capo a bass sometime!

Manhasset Stands – Lane’s been using Manhasset Stands since junior high school. He still has one from his old high school.

Other Gear – Lane also uses a Pedal Train pedal board, powered by a Voodoo Labs brick. The board holds a Line 6 G50 wireless receiver, Ernie Ball volume pedal, EH Mini POG, Sans Amp preamp, MXR compressor, and Peterson Stomp Classic tuner. Hamilton stands hold all instruments; an Access gig bag holds spares and extras.

A Word Lane on Endorsements

Just so you know, I use every piece of gear I endorse, and recommend them highly. I’m fully committed to every company listed because I believe their products are among the best in the industry, and they provide outstanding service to their customers. I don’t endorse for the publicity, or to get free gear. In fact, I never endorse a company until I’ve purchased their products on my own.
